Training Description: Join Recovery Vermont for this 3-hour training that will provide those responsible for leading recovery meetings with the key skills needed to facilitate and host effective meetings. Learn practical skills on how to facilitate recovery groups, start your own, and run a successful group. We will talk about boundaries, setting the time and space expectations, as well as tools on how to keep the group on track. 

Learning Objectives: 

At the conclusion of the training, participants will be able to:
• Plan and conduct effective meetings
• Describe the role of a facilitator
• Demonstrate key facilitation skills including focusing the discussion, summarizing and allowing for equal participation
• Structure discussions to achieve a specific end
• Describe methods for preventing and responding to challenging situations

Lisa Lord (she, her, hers) is the Director of Workforce Development at Recovery Vermont. Her work is focused on creating a state-wide network of Recovery Friendly Workplaces and supporting Vermont’s Recovery Coaches and the life-changing work they do as they gain and maintain their nationally and internationally reciprocal certification. She is inspired daily by the transformative nature of recovery and how transferable the skills learned through a recovery journey are to the workplace.

About the Trainer

Will Roberts (he, they) is the Director of Training for VAMHAR/Recovery Vermont. They have 20 plus years experience as a trainer and facilitator working with victims of crime, trauma survivors, and in prevention/recovery. Their knowledge of adult learning theory and proficiency in training development, design, and content delivery support the creation and execution of quality learner-centered trainings. Will brings with them excellence in communication, compassion and deep listening skills.
